About Us

Our mission is to ensure social responsibility through VET education

AOT establishes and develops industry credibility through effective collaboration and consultation with relevant industry stakeholders to ensure that continuous improvement activities underpin the RTO operations.

Established in 2006, our focus is on quality training outcomes through customisation of courses to suit specific target community groups’ needs through consistent consultation with community groups.

We are registered with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) to provide the nationally recognised qualifications as listed on AOT’s RTO Scope of Registration on the TGA website:

http://training.gov.au/Organisation/Details/91215

Through the years, our courses have assisted in addressing the skills shortage in the early childhood education and care industry in NSW and QLD. Participants from our courses have gained the necessary qualification to gain employment outcomes or post training in their respective industries.

Measures of AOT performance include:

  • 80% of participants are likely to complete the course
  • 60% of participants are likely to secure employment
  • 10% of participants are likely to go onto further study or training
  • 60% of participants in paid employment will maintain employment over 6 months

The components of the AOT programs are as follows:

Intake and assessment – all referred clients will be assessed.  This will include gathering information about the participant’s qualifications, experience, socio-economic and family circumstances and identification of barriers to employment and basic literacy/skills assessment.  This process will identify suitability for employment in the industry as well as identify the need to provide student support as necessary.

Accredited training and work experience – participants will access a nationally recognised qualification , with some training program participants to gaining 120-240 hours of work experience with local host employers.  The training and work experience placement will be provided by the Academy of Training who have a number of host employers in NSW and Queensland metropolitan areas.

Employment Preparation Support – during and at the completion of the training program participants will be provided with employment preparation support through the provision of employment workshops, resume preparation, job search skills, interview techniques and workshops.

Follow up support – Participants will receive follow up support for up to six months, to monitor their progress and outcomes and to assist with employer referrals and networking.
